Andre Gilfillan is a highly experienced care professional, with over 13 years working across the residential care sector. From frontline support roles to senior leadership positions, Andre has developed a deep understanding of person-centred care, team development, and the realities of delivering high-quality support to individuals with complex needs.
For the past eight years, Andre has specialised in behaviour support and physical intervention training, helping teams build the confidence, knowledge, and practical skills to manage challenging situations safely and respectfully. As a lead trainer and qualified Skills Tutor for Level 4 and Level 5 Health & Social Care Diplomas, Andre is dedicated to shaping future leaders in the sectorāsupporting them to navigate the demands of care work with both professionalism and empathy.
Andre is the lead delivery staff member for our Restraint and Physical Intervention for Children training course, which is delivered using the Empower Programme methodology. This specialist approach draws on his extensive background in delivering behaviour management and restraint training through nationally recognised programmes including CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute), TCI (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention), MAPA (Management of Actual or Potential Aggression), Team Teach, and P.P.R (Predict, Prevent, Respond). The Empower Programme builds on the principles of P.P.R and has undergone rigorous risk assessment, with all techniques independently approved by a qualified osteopath to ensure safety and alignment with natural body movement.
As a qualified Regulation 44 Visitor and a proud holder of a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management, Andre brings a wide-reaching view of sector standards, compliance, and continuous improvement. He is passionate about promoting best practice in behaviour support, and champions environments where safety, dignity, and respect are non-negotiable for both service users and staff.
