This knowledge-only qualification is designed for staff, in a variety of roles, who want to develop their understanding of medication administration and how to handle this safely. Staff will develop knowledge of the procedures for obtaining, storing, administering and disposing of medicines, medicine related legislation, audit processes and issues of responsibility and accountability.

As a taster qualification it can also be used as CPD across all levels. This makes it ideal for anyone who may need an understanding of this subject even though they are not directly involved in the care of individuals.

This Qualification is made up of 6 units including:

  • Understand the required record-keeping and audit processes for medication administration
  • Understand the roles and rights of individuals/service involved in medication administration
  • Understand different types of medication
  • Understand how to administer medication safely
  • Understand the way medication is supplied, stored and disposed of
  • Understand legislation and guidelines related to medication administration
