This qualification also aims to meet a training gap within the care sector identified by Care Quality Commission. It was identified that there was a lack of knowledge and understanding of oral hygiene and care within care settings, this qualification covers areas which were identified such as basic oral health care, how to assess the mouth and the importance of person-centred approaches.

As a taster qualification it can also be used as CPD across all levels. This makes it ideal for anyone who may need an understanding of this subject even though they are not directly involved in the care of individuals.

This Qualification is made up of 5 units consisting of:

  • Principles of oral health care
  • Oral hygiene equipment and support
  • Principles of promoting a person-centred approach to oral hygiene
  • Principles for providing oral care in a health and social care setting
  • Providing oral care in care settings

Average time to completion:

  • 4 - 6 weeks
